Feed His Children began in Ottawa in 2013. The ministry to families started in one school and quickly spread throughout the Illinois Valley. We are currently in 38 schools in the area. Around 500 supplemental bags of groceries are sent bi-weekly through the school system to families who need a little extra. The families that are chosen are selected by school administrators. In the summer months, many administrators continue to deliver the bags to families. We also supply grab-and-go items in school pantries including hygiene items.

Mission work is not something that we just do overseas. In fact, it is just as important that we serve our local communities. Crossbridge is one church in multiple locations, and we like to pour into our communities as much as possible. Over the course of a year, we serve alongside multiple different organizations and events.

short term mission trips

Crossbridge has a partnership with Sam & Kristi Senica, Nazarene missionaries, who serve in the Dominican Republic. One part of our partnership is sending teams to serve in the Dominican Republic. Each trip is slightly different depending on the need and team, but there will be some sort of work project, team building, cultural learning, great food, and a tourism day.

  • The Church of the Nazarene is a world-wide church. We are currently in over 150 countries. Through our commitment to Funding the Mission, Crossbridge sends a portion of everything we take in back out the doors to plant churches in the United States, support missionaries around the world, and build hospitals and schools.

supporting missionaries

Nazarene missionaries are supported through your giving. We send 5.5% of every dollar that is given to support world missions. There are two main ways that you can support Crossbridge’s sponsored missionaries:

  • By supporting financially, you are helping our missionaries afford the basic necessities of life and living in another country. For the Senica Family and other missionaries that means housing, school costs, food, clothes, gas, activities, etc.

  • By supporting through prayer, you are committing to regularly pray for the missionaries and their ministries. The Senica family often give prayer updates and requests through their email newsletters and podcast episodes. You can also follow the other Nazarene missionaries through the Church of the Nazarene website.

world vision

World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization helping children, families, and their communities overcome poverty and injustice. Crossbridge partners with World Vision.

  • The Chicago Marathon is a scenic 26.2 miles! Did you know that you could run/walk it to raise money for clean water?! Join Team Crossbridge! Team World Vision offers a training plan that has been used by thousands of people of all shapes, sizes, and ages. It will take you from the couch to the finish line, and back to the couch again. 

  • Each year Crossbridge hosts a Global 6K for Water through World Vision. This is a 3.7 mile run/walk that is fun for all ages. 3.7 miles is the average distance that a child must walk to get dirty water. Through this event, we raise money for clean water and move our feet in with those all around the world who participate in the 6K.

  • By sponsoring a child, you are helping provide the necessities of life and other things they may not normally get. For many this includes food, water, education, birthday gifts, etc. Through World Vision, you will have the ability to communicate with your child and even receive notes from them!
